Prom

like finally, yeah.

time really does fly quickly. finally settling down for a moment from the hustle and bustle of college life (which seems practically impossible at points, i must point out), i've just only realise that it has been 3 months since i've started college. and oh march! my favourite month, a beautiful month of rebirths, renewals and regrowths! did you know coca cola was introduced on the 29th of march in 1886 and the eiffel tower was officially opened on the 31th of march in 1889?
and do you i'm finally turning legal in 15 more days? *hint ;)
my birthday falls on the spring equinox *super transparent hint ;)

i swear college has been sucking the living hell out of me.

So, prom. i had fun of course, but it was all too overrated. wanted to get a big fluffy sparkly dress for prom but couldn't manage since it was just a few weeks before spm and i did not have the time for some extensive shopping. ended up with a little lacy bare back number and black peep toes heels from topshop, matched them with a pair of gold feathered earings, but without the feathers HAHA, painted my nails in a gunmetal shade and that's about it. boring, i know.

had a slightly akward moment there so i started playing with my fingers #okay.jpg

prom ended with the dance floor which started off with slow dancing. charles and i was asked by the organisers to lead the first dance. it was so extremly akward and they even video taped it and now its on youtube omgbbq o.O

please, the only dance i know consist of a series of weird jerky superstars wannabe moves reserved for singing along at home. you really do not want to witness it.

and that's the end of my high school chapter.
sweet dreams, my lovelies.

oh wait, here's one last picture of my flowers haha!

pretty or not?

college

so here i am, again.
life's kinda on hold for me now so might as well take this opportunity to blog. there's so many things on my mind now that i couldn't possibly pick which to start on. well, perhaps i should start on my upcoming interview for the CAL student council this friday since it's being a real attention seeker, incessantly shouting and forming bolded letter font in my foremost thoughts. i'm nervous. i am tempted to call up my friends to probe them on what exactly happens at the 30 minute long interview. continuous interrogation? questions meant to trow us off our feet? snide remarks? embarrassments? i had never thought that the 200 words i wrote about myself would actually gain an interest. honestly, i feel embarrassed on multitude levels for promoting myself in such a way. but take a look from a oblique angle, writing it down black and white on a piece of paper wasn't that much of a discomfiture. somehow, it makes my weakness and strengths stand luminous to myself, which only clarify further one of the sore reason i took a chance and plunge in this particular area- it wasn't to prove my strengths, but to improve my weakness. just chummy. anyway, i must thank hao bin and kah seng for their support :)

enough of nerve wrecking contemplation on the unknown. college life has been wonderful, so far. i wouldn't go as far as to speak of the future, but it has been a ball for the mere 3 weeks i've been at taylors. meeting new friends and old acquaintance alike, discovering new subjects (i've got to say this, law wasn't as dull as i've been told to expect and business studies is most interesting compared to physics and chemistry.), nice teachers and the whole package. the only letdown is to find the lack of people culture dissaraytion.

i had so much to tell, but i am struck by the sudden inanition of the mind. oh well, till then i suppose.

p/s: yes, i do realise that my posts are getting shorter. blogger's block i suppose.

fujiflim instax mini 7s

while i'm editing and drafting a long ass post on prom, let me entertain you with my latest gadget. this time, i got myself a Polaroid. well, it isn't exactly a Polaroid since Polaroid is just a brand. a much popularized brand on the European continent that the instant camera became synonym with its name. i had been obsessing over getting a Polaroid since a year or two back but even if i had the mean to get myself a real Polaroid then, it would prove difficult as it's unavailable in Malaysian stores. a Polaroid would easily cost over a thousand myr while a Fujiflim instax mini 7s only cost around 350-400 myr. not to mention, replacing genuine Polaroid films would be too much of a hassle for a student myself.

so, after reading though reviews after reviews and with much consideration, i settled with a humble fujiflim instax mini 7s. for those who don't know, the instax mini uses credit card sized films. click click and a new pretty picture for your wallet. while i am certainly not a crazy hello kitty stalker psychopath, the limited  edition hello kitty instax mini 7s was cute. really cute. but it was unavailable at that moment. and after searching around for so long, i got rather impatient. the coloured ones (pink/blue/orangy yellow) would cost less but it wasn't exactly pleasing to my eyes. the brown one looks...ugh practically like an abominate. and so, i landed with the plain ol' white one. plain and white but still aesthetically pleasing nonetheless.

i got my instax mini 7s and films from a shop at pyramid's asian avenue. a small little shop that sells all sorts of things ranging from cigarette lighters to small containers to poker cards and to of course, instant cameras. tho i got my cammie for a slightly higher price than those sold online, i am better assured. comes with a one year warranty.

my new baby cammie

i'm gonna get some accessories for my instant camera soon. zooming lens, colour filters and a camera bag. if you're looking for accessories, and basically everything about quirky cameras, they are all available here.

fyi, the flash can't be switched off, be it in a well lit area or a pitch dark surrounding. it can only be adjusted by the brightness adjustment dial accordingly to the surrounding brightness. but nope, no dials to switch it off entirely.

the tiny number 5 right to the brightness adjustment sticker indicates the number of film left inside. never open the film storage compartment once the first picture from a film pack is took or risk spoiling the remaining films all when exposed to light

brightness adjustment dial

the film came out blank once. gave me a mini myocardial infarction i tell you. my first assumption was i somehow managed to spoil my camera at my first attempt to take a pic with it. it was only after a few moments the film starts to develop, much to my relieve.

anyway, the main focus was on the merry go round figurine but the roses turn out to be in the centre of the pic as the eye lens and camera lens are slightly apart. so do remember to shift your camera and focus the object to left so it comes out in the middle.

comes with 4 AA 1.5V Panasonic batteries, camera strap..

and of course, a few english manuals. camera specs, instructions etc. here

took by my new cammie. spot me :)

i feel duty bounded to say that the pictures usually develop to be slightly out of focus and dark at the edges, just a bit.
well, just so you know what you're getting into.  *shrugs nonchalantly
